The goal of the High Efficiency Commercial Air Conditioning and Heat Pump (HECAC) Initiative is to promote the market availability of high efficiency unitary air conditioners and heat pumps in the U.S. and Canada.  The primary strategy used to meet the initiative goal is to maintain a national level, high performance specification for high efficiency air conditioning (AC) and heat pump (HP) equipment that a critical mass of members voluntarily adopt as the basis for incentives or other program support. The Initiative document outlines the initiative goals, approach and strategies. It also provides a market and technology overview, barriers and opportunities, efficiency specifications, and initiative participation requirements.
