National Grid provides technical and financial assistance to their commercial and industrial customers for equipment and building energy efficiency improvements. Improvements can be either custom-engineered or selected from a list of prescribed measures.This impact evaluation study is Part I of three parts, and reviews four Custom process projects that fall into the categories of compressed air system modifications. National Grid seeks to quantify the actual energy and demand savings attributable to these Custom process projects.

National Grid USA Service Company's (National Grid's) retail affiliates (Massachusetts Electric, Narragansett Electric, Granite State Electric, and Nantucket Electric) provide technical and financial assistance to their commercial and industrial customers for equipment and building energy efficiency improvements. Improvements can be either custom-engineered or selected from a list of prescribed measures. This impact evaluation study is Part II of two parts, and reviews two Custom HVAC projects completed in 2003.

The HVAC improvement projects included the installation of a variable frequency drive (VFD) on a chiller and transforming a single loop chilled water system into a primary/secondary loop system with VFDs on the secondary loop pumps.

Improvements can be either custom-engineered or selected from a list of prescribed measures.This impact evaluation study is Part I of two parts, and reviews 10 Custom process projects that fall into the categories of process improvements (4 sites), process cooling (2 sites), and one site each of variable-speed drives (VSDs), compressed air system modifications, industrial refrigeration and “other”.

Analysis of Cooler Control Energy Conservation Measures

This report is an analysis of cooler control measures as used by NSTAR’s Small Business Solutions Program. The main goals of the study were to produce gross kW demand and kWh energy savings for regulatory reporting of program-level results, to determine the cost-effectiveness of cooler control measures and to improve implementation by identifying improvements to the savings algorithms, installation methods, and inspection protocols.
